Iconoclantastic

These glass cubes travel via FedEx from exhibition to exhibition, inevitably being damaged on route and displayed on shipping box pedestals.

by Walead Beshty

I saw this work at the Los Angeles Art Fair last year. It made me laugh straight away. That is usually a pretty good sign for art. It also made me think, which is paramount.

I spent 5 years packing and shipping art work as part of my responsibilities when I worked at the museum and even destroyed a glass piece in shipping. It happens.

-Oh, that laughing part….it just doesn’t happen enough in art.
